In South Yorkshire, police have discovered a cannabis factory containing plants estimated to be worth more than £1 million. The drugs were found in an industrial unit on Wombwell’s Hemingfield Road. As a result of this discovery, police said Barnsley’s drug supply would be significantly affected. In order to uncover those responsible for the operation, the force said an investigation was underway.
Earlier this year, South Yorkshire Police seized 20,000 cannabis plants worth over £20.5 million in Rotherham. Cannabis farms are the source of frequent power cuts in the county, which has led the police to launch Operation Grow.
